Mikuna is a company founded by Ricky Echanique, a fifth-generation farmer from Ecuador. Ricky's journey began when he faced health and digestion issues while living in Santa Barbara, which led him to search for a better form of plant-based nutrition. This quest brought him back to Ecuador and to the discovery of Chocho, an "Andean super protein" that has been harvested by Andean farmers for thousands of years.

Mikuna is dedicated to sharing Chocho with the world and supporting local farmers in the process. The company empowers farmers through education, fair trade practices, and programs aimed at increasing their income. Mikuna believes that their local impact matters just as much as their global impact. Their protein powders are made from this clean, single-source plant protein grown at high elevations in the Andes Mountains.

With a focus on regenerative agriculture and making positive change, Mikuna aims to improve not only the soil but also the communities involved in growing food and the people who consume it.
