In 1965, Tunis Vander Lugt bought the business and ran it with his wife Lois, building a loyal clientele from all over West Michigan. In 1981, their son Tom took over the business after earning credentials in Gemology and Goldsmithing. Under Tom and his wife Deb's ownership, Swierenga Jewelers continued to prosper.
