Tri-Con Materials is a trusted provider of quality aggregate materials in Illinois. The company has been in the business since 1968 when it was founded by Richard 'Dick' Nelson as Walnut Sand and Gravel. They operated gravel pits in Walnut, Hennepin, and Henry, supplying top-quality washed aggregates for asphalt, concrete, and base material applications. In 1992, Tri-Con Materials was formed as a union company by Richard Nelson, Steve Nelson, and Steve Harmon. In 1997, Tri-Con Materials merged with Walnut Sand and Gravel to become the operating entity it is today.

Tri-Con Materials is now based at their Hennepin location, which serves as their largest active gravel pit on the Illinois River.
